(openPR) - Basel, Switzerland, June 1, 2009 -- The current episodes on VernissageTV Art TV focus on the art scene in Cologne and Art Cologne 2009. Apart from reports from the international art fair Art Cologne 2009 VernissageTV covered three exhibitions at Museum Ludwig, which currently presents paintings by Christopher Wool, and video works by Erik van Lieshout and Jonathan Horowitz.

The much anticipated inauguration of the new Museum Brandhorst in Munich, designed by Berlin architects Sauerbruch Hutton, is another highlight in VernissageTV's programming. The Director of the Brandhorst Collection, Prof. Dr. Armin Zweite, and the Deputy Director General of the Bayerische Gemäldesammlungen, Prof. Dr. Carla Schulz-Hoffmann, talk about museum's architecture, the origins of the Brandhorst Collection, and the partnership between the Udo and Anette Brandhorst Collection and the Bayerische Staatsgemäldesammlungen.

VernissageTV also traveled to Berlin to attend the opening of two Imi Knoebel exhibitions at Neue Nationalgalerie (New National Gallery) and Deutsche Guggenheim.

In Paris VernissageTV covered the exhibition HF | RG (Harun Farocki | Rodney Graham) at Jeu de Paume, and in Sevilla, Spain the TV art project had a close look at works by Nancy Spero at the Centro Andaluz de Arte Contemporáneo CAAC.

For the design addicts VernissageTV went to Weil am Rhein where the Vitra Design Museum mounted a large retrospective on the work of the Brazilian designers Fernando and Humberto Campana.

For its HD section, VernissageTV produced the following documentaries:

>> Mark Thompson in conversation with Los Angeles-based art critic David Pagel at Open Space at Art Cologne 2009. Mark Thompson's film “Immersion”, produced between 1974 and 1976 documents a swarm of bees gradually and almost completely covering the artist’s head, neck and bare chest. The film was presented as a digital projection at this year’s OPEN SPACE exhibition at Art Cologne and is part of the Art Film program of the Art Film program of the upcoming Art 40 Basel art fair.

>> Tracey Emin: 20 Years. Retrospective at Kunstmuseum Bern, Switzerland. In contrast to the regular video posted on VernissageTV this video is a full-length version with the focus solely on the works.

>> Liam Gillick Lecture at Hamburger Bahnhof in Berlin. The lecture was organized within the framework of his upcoming exhibition in Venice as the German contribution to the 53rd Venice Biennial.

>> Sarah Oppenheimer Artist Talk at the American Academy in Berlin. A video documentary of the artist talk with Sarah Oppenheimer at the American Academy in Berlin that gives a more detailed insight in her work. Sarah Oppenheimer presents a large scale installation at Art 40 Basel (Art Unlimited section).

All HD-episodes are available online at www.vernissage.tv/blog/hd/

The upcoming episodes will focus on the 53rd International Art Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia and the international art show Art 40 Basel.
