Sennheiser headphone designer Axel Grell in the Sennheiser booth during the HD 800 demonstration

Sennheiser headphone designer Axel Grell in the Sennheiser booth during the HD 800 demonstration

At the High End 2009 which just closed its doors, Sennheiser electronic, the innovation leader in the field of dynamic headphones, employed a headphone amplifier from Lehmann audio for their presentation of the brandnew top-of-the-range model HD 800.

The Linear headphone amplifier used by Sennheiser has been a constant for years in the in-house design lab and is both accepted and popular with music lovers and professionals alike. The Studiomagazin’s verdict "Reference class of its genre" turned out accordingly. The Audio magazine raves about the "best solid-state headphone amp which Audio knows about". Other magazines come to similar conclusions.

Visitors at the Sennheiser exhibition booth J. 10 in hall 4 were able to compare on-site the combination of Lehmann audio Linear and Sennheiser HD 800 against the world’s most expensive and – to many people’s ears – best headphone set, the renowned eletrostatic Orpheus. The Orpheus is complemented with a proprietary valve headphone amplifier. The demonstrations were held by the designer of Sennheiser’s new flagship, Mr. Axel Grell himself.

For the optimal music enjoyment through headphones, headphone amplifiers are just as vital as power amplifiers for loudspeakers, because headphones are also complex loads. Power hunger and sensitivity of current headphones differ much more than the omnipresent jack plug would make us believe. The Linear headphone amplifier from Lehmann audio lives up to this aspiration and, apart from Sennheiser, also satisfies other demanding customers like Holland’s most experienced independent mastering engineer, Maarten de Boer from 'The Masters', or the classical music editor at the WDR and TACET label boss Andreas Spreer.

Lehmann audio offers high-grade hifi electronics under the slogan 'High End from the sound engineer'. Without exception the products receive very good ratings in the relevant magazine reviews and are available through national distributors in thirty countries worldwide. Lehmann develops and manufactures exclusively in Germany.

With integrity, quality and a fair price-performance ratio Lehmann meets the requirements of his customers. So he is successful against the trend in a branch where the enormous speed of technological progress often causes a lack of continuity and up-to-dateness.

Already since 1988 Lehmann has created great sounding devices for the studio and hifi branch under his name. Making music come alive with first-class technology is his motto. As a qualified sound engineer who is familiar with different aspects of studio electronics and maintains a creative exchange of experience with the high end scene, Norbert Lehmann was able to figure out sound-determining 'tricks and knacks'.

Lehmann audio:

Numerous awards and countless positive reviews on all five continents as well as an unrivalled customer satisfaction worldwide clearly show the outstanding performance and product quality of Lehmann audio products. Main products are headphone amplifiers and phono stages. In 2007 the Black Cube phono stage won the readers poll of the German major hifi magazine Stereoplay in the category "phono stage of the year". Ortofon, world market leader in the field of turntable cartridges is using Lehmann audio products exclusively during final manufacturing tests.

This success has not been based on fortuity: solid engineering, the consequent consideration of sonically important details and an exceptional price to value ratio are the stable fundaments of this truly unique success story.

All Lehmann audio products are exclusively developed and manufactured in Germany. Distribution is based on national distributors in over 30 countries worlwide.

Company portrait Sennheiser
