Delta Electronics Announces Hot Swappable Fan Series in Europe
Press release from: Delta Electronics Europe
PR Agency: Profact Communications GmbH
(openPR) - Delta Electronics today introduced their unique Hot Swappable Fan Series in Europe. To support 24/7 year-round running of servers and IT facilities, Delta's hot swappable fan modules can be replaced within seconds without turning off the computer system.
In line with its mission, "To provide innovative, clean and efficient energy solutions for a better tomorrow," Delta has developed a unique life support fan blower system that allows quick exchange in case of malfunction without having to power down computer system. This user-friendly design would save on power consumed resetting facilities. Delta has patents and patent applications for this product in Germany and other countries
High performance boards in server racks handle huge amounts of data and produce a lot of heat. This is particularly true for processors operating under full load within the 3-Gigaherts range, which can reach the temperatures of cooking plates. Solid mounted fans face a real challenge cooling down systems, so most server racks contain massive fan blowers that transport the heat outside. Like all mechanical devices, fan blowers are subject to natural wear and tear, which is most apparent when suspicious noises occur. If the fan fails and comes to a stop, a rapid response is required, such as shutting down the boards, dismounting the defective fan, mounting a new fan, and booting up the boards again. Long minutes of a completely paralyzed IT system may pass until the system is up and running smoothly.
This scenario would not occur with the new hot swappable fans from Delta Electronics, where the fan / motor unit and the rack-mounting frame are separate. The mechanical and electrical contact takes place through secure, well-fitted clips and gold-plated contacts. The replacement of the hot swappable Delta fan takes only a few seconds. An LED alarm system allows users to take action quickly and easily with no need to shut down the system boards or fan power supply. The server can simply keep running without interruption.
The new hot swappable Delta Fans Series is available in all popular sizes beginning Q2 2009. The diameters range from 60 to 120 millimeters and the length of the fan axis varies from 25 to 51 millimeters. All fan motors are brushless and operate on DC power.
