Beacon House Performs in Singing Jailbirds: The Musical at Warner Grand Theatre in San Pedro
Press release from: The Relevant Stage Theatre Company
(openPR) - The world premiere of Upton Sincair's Singing Jailbirds: The Musical features 16 talented residents of the Beacon House Association of San Pedro.
"Jailbirds" tells the story of the stuggles in the early 1900's of the worker's movement and the efforts to create One Big Union by the Industrial Worker's of the World who believed in "Solidarity Forever".
The Beacon House Association of San Pedro was founded in 1974 as a private non-profit California corporation, with the purpose of providing a peer-oriented, residential recovery program for men whose lives had become unmanageable due to alcoholism or addiction.
The Beacon House philosophy is that alcoholism/drug addiction is a disease which is treatable. We believe that a kind and caring home environment and a sound recovery program are essential to the recovery of many alcoholics.
The Beacon House Association of San Pedro recovery concept is based on mental, physical, emotional and spiritual health and includes the necessary establishment of basic individual self-esteem and love, combined with a knowledge and understanding of the disease of alcoholism/drug addiction.
The Beacon House Association of San Pedro offers hope through a program designed with the outcome objective of a productive, responsible, and sober life for each program participant. Our program is presented in a pleasant, cheerful atmosphere of fellowship, where participants live and relate with other sober alcoholics who are learning to live happily in the real world without alcohol or mind or mood altering substances of any kind.
