MetricStream to Host a Complimentary Webinar on Enabling Risk Management
Press release from: MetricStream
MetricStream, Inc., the market leader in enterprise-wide Governance, Risk, Compliance (GRC) and Quality Management solutions, today announced that it is hosting a complimentary webinar titled “Run up to the Economic Crisis: Enabling Risk Management” on Thursday, March 5, 2008 at 9:00am Pacific (12:00pm Eastern). Interactive Session will Feature David R. Koenig, CEO of The Governance Fund, LLC and Former Chair, BoD PRMIA and will focus on approaches for restoring confidence with a new perspective on Governance and Risk Management.
For Risk Officers, the events of the past year have challenged all assumptions about what defines the best practices of governance and risk management. In particular, the appropriateness of the Chief Risk Officer’s dual, and potentially conflicting, roles of working to advance the business and acting as a provider of “independent” oversight are being questioned. In this webinar, we will discuss an integrated framework for deploying governance and risk management practices that will lead to higher adaptability for changing business needs and enhancing capabilities that will guard against adversity. The seminar will include discussion on:
1) What can the Network and Distributive models of governance tell us about improving the practices of enterprise risk management (ERM) and governance?
2) What roles do effective communication, audit and IT systems play in this model?
3) Can the Chief Risk Officer be a “Business Line Advocate” as our speaker argued in a paper written in 2001?
4) How critical is the technology in enabling effective risk management? What are the key requirements of a GRC platform?
Prior to his time with PRMIA, the esteemed panelist, David R. Koenig served as the Head of Market and Institutional Credit Risk Management for US Bancorp Piper Jaffray and has held lead risk management roles with GMAC/RFC and Principal Residential Mortgage, Inc. (Principal Financial Group). David was selected as the recipient of the PRMIA Higher Standard Award in 2008 and was nominated and elected by his peers to the Risk Who’s Who International Honorary Society in 2007.
Mr. Koenig will be joined by Gaurav Kapoor, Chief Financial Officer and General Manager at MetricStream.
