Hitachi Midrange Storage Platform Wins Bronze in Storage Magazine and SearchStorage.com 2008 Products of the Year Awards
SANTA CLARA, Calif. —February 24, 2009 — Hitachi Data Systems Corporation, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. (NYSE: HIT) and the only provider of Services Oriented Storage Solutions, today announced its next-generation midrange storage platform, the Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage (AMS) 2000 Series, has been selected by TechTarget’s Storage magazine and SearchStorage.com as a ‘Storage Products of the Year’ winner.“Hitachi is proud to be among the award winners recognized by the editors of Storage magazine and SearchStorage.com,” said Roberto Basilio, vice president, Storage Platforms Product Management, Hitachi Data Systems. “This award validates our hard work and commitment to developing leading-edge storage systems for our customers that better address their growing storage environments and diverse application requirements. The Storage magazine and SearchStorage.com’s annual ‘Storage Products of the Year’ awards recognize the elite technologies that impacted the storage industry in 2008. The Storage magazine and SearchStorage.com editorial staff, in conjunction with a team of users, industry experts, analysts, and consultants narrowed the finalists down to a list of 15 products across five categories: backup and disaster recovery software, backup hardware, disk and disk subsystems, storage networking equipment and storage management software. Hitachi Data Systems received the Bronze Award in the disk and disk subsystems category. Other winners include BlueArc and Intel, which received the Gold and Silver, respectively.

In October 2008, Hitachi announced the next-generation of midrange storage platforms, the Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage (AMS) 2000 Series. This new series delivers several times the performance compared to prior generations, and also offers storage consolidation for iSCSI, NAS and Fibre Channel storage area network (SAN) connections. The AMS Series is comprised of three models: the Hitachi AMS 2100, the Hitachi AMS 2300, and the Hitachi AMS 2500. The entire portfolio of midrange storage systems meets the benchmarking standard "Five 9's" of availability.
The Hitachi AMS 2000 Series has many advanced features such as; Symmetrical Active/Active Controllers with Dynamic Load Balancing, SATA/Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) Backplane for maximum configuration flexibility, “Spin down; Spin up” Power Savings Feature, and is optimized for Virtual Server Environments.
