(openPR) - ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., March 27, 2006 – Acme Manufacturing Company will showcase FANUC Robotics America, Inc.’s new M-710iC robot equipped with FANUC’s V-500iA/2DV vision system, during the Westec 2006 Exposition and Conference at the Los Angeles Convention Center, Los Angeles, Calif., March 27-30, booth #2816 (co-locating with FANUC Robotics and GE Fanuc).
FANUC Robotics’ new M-710iC robot features six axes of motion, an extremely large work envelope, slim profile and small footprint. The versatile M-710iC robot offers three model variations with payloads ranging from 50 kg to 70 kg., and a reach of 1360 mm to 2050 mm. Multiple mounting methods including floor, ceiling, angle and wall, make it possible for users to have better access to unusual work pieces. In addition, the optional Severe Dust and Liquid Protection (SDLP) makes the entire robot IP67 protected for operation in harsh environments.

At the show, the new M-710iC intelligent robot equipped with FANUC’s V-500iA/2DV vision system will identify and locate aerospace components to perform a variety of metal finishing tasks. The new robotic cell includes an ATI QC-41 end-of-arm tool changer for automatic switching of the multiple finishing heads. The first finishing head is an ATI Flexdeburr 340 radial compliant head for hard tool deburring and edge pre-break of the dovetail sections on the disc. The second finishing head is an Acme servo-driven compliant brushing head used for blending and radiusing the disc’s sharp edges. The disc is mounted on a servo-driven seventh axis turntable to allow for accurate indexing of the various slots and other areas requiring finishing. This precision indexing feature provides uniform part finish and simplifies the programming process.
FANUC Robotics’ ROBOGUIDE off-line programming software was used to create the part program. ROBOGUIDE makes it very easy to identify interference or access problems and simulate part programs without taking the system out of production.
