ZONOS IoT platform talks to smart textiles

ZONOS enters the textile market

Within the research project, Cuculus contributes its long-standing experience in the set-up and operation of IoT platforms. More than 1 million devices are already connected to the ZONOS platform, and smart textiles can also be integrated in the future. „Inmouldtronic“ is a further step toward realizing our vision: „We are convinced that devices and all kinds of things have to be connected efficiently in order to be able to support people and companies in an increasingly complex daily life.“, said Gunnar Scharfe, Managing Director of Cuculus GmbH.

The textile market is changing

New applications can be developed and innovative services provided through the development of smart textiles. The first to find mention should be the health monitoring of humans, e.g. the monitoring of vital functions through the measurement of skin resistance. Furthermore, the condition monitoring of technical textiles plays an increasingly important role, e.g. the load determination of elevator cables.

ZONOS enables the perfect start into the world of IoT

In the future, smart textiles – like other electronic devices – will be integrated into IoT networks. The requirements regarding data transfer, communications management and multi-vendor integration will present new challenges. In the scope of the research project, Cuculus develops middleware components which ensure secure data transfer and optimal integration. The ZONOS IoT platform allows the connection of any type of end-device (e.g. smart phones, tablets) with smart textiles.

Digital healthcare (e-health) is on the advance

The healthcare sector is the driving force for innovations and new ideas in the field of smart textiles. Due to a standards-compliant software development in the project „Inmouldtronic“, the basis is already established to be able to serve the e-health sector in the future. Cuculus ensures that not only the requirements of the manufacturers of smart textiles are fulfilled, but also the requirements for medical devices. The ZONOS IoT platform allows a controlled and secure data management of personal information. Medically relevant data can be collected and processed securely.

futureTEX belongs to the program „Twenty20 – Partnership for Innovation“, sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
