Calling all captains: on demand boating app HOBA expands down the east coast

08-08-2017 02:00 PM CET | Business, Economy, Finances, Banking & Insurance

Press release from: HOBA

HOBA, the 'Hop on a boat anywhere' mobile app is expanding its reach from its roots in Charleston, S.C., further up and down the east coast. Taking it to great locations like Myrtle Beach, Beaufort, and Hilton Head, SC, plus Savannah, Lake Lanier and Lake Norman, HOBA aims to connect charter passengers with boat captains on a ride-hailing app for fun on the water.

Would-be passengers can download the app to find the best boat captains near them, book a trip now or at any time in the future, pay within the app and hop onboard. HOBA is also committed to helping more potential captains get their captain's license by offering to pay for the captain's license fee after $4,000 in bookings with HOBA. Boat owners working exclusively in lakes won't need a captain's license.

HOBA founder, David Yates said, "We're delighted to confirm the expansion of HOBA along the east coast as requests have been flooding in all over the U.S. Our app is unique and this growth means that we can help more users experience the luxury of a private charter, while also giving boat captains and boat owners who want to get their license a flexible, easy way to generate more revenue from their crafts."

"It was a sticker on the door at Seaschool which sparked my interest in HOBA back in February. At first, I wasn't sure what I'd do with my Captain's License; would I set out on my own, or work exclusively with HOBA? It's been nearly a month since I got my first ride, just a trip for four from Bristol to Shem Creek for dinner. It turned out to be something they'd remember forever. This is why I continued with the app because I can give folks memories, and I can continue to do what I love, boating and fishing around Charleston," said HOBA Captain Kelly Floresperger.

With over 6800 downloads of HOBA in 3 months, and HOBA's latest expansion, captains will now find it easier than ever to earn great income when they sign up. Travelers will likewise be able to connect with boat captains in their area and experience an incredible trip out on local waters that they might not have found otherwise.
