PSI implements efficient baggage handling system at Hamburg Airport
Press release from: PSI AG
(openPR) - Berlin, 14 January 2009 - After successfully passing several weeks of testing operations at Hamburg Airport for the Groundstars GmbH & Co. KG, on January 1, 2009 the PSI-subsidiary PSI Logistics GmbH put the Baggage Reconciliation System PSIairport/BRS for monitoring baggage claim into operation.
The PSIairport/BRS system, already in use at various airports in Germany, enables airport staff to identify and avoid baggage handling errors via clearly recognizable optical and acoustic signals. Portable devices convey detailed information for all relevant items in the baggage system without impairing time-critical operating processes. This data is simultaneously transmitted to the airline, which can readily provide passengers with up-to-the-minute information regarding the current status of their luggage, e.g. text messages on mobile phones.
PSIairport/BRS complements the already integrated Baggage Handling Systems and Flight Information Displays by PSI Logistics available at Hamburg Airport as a complete spectrum of services for efficiency in air travel.
PSI AG develops and integrates complete solutions, on the basis of its own software, for the management of energy networks (electricity, gas, oil, water, heat), cross-company production management (metals, mechanical engineering, automotive, logistics) and infrastructure management for telecommunications, transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and currently employs 1,100 persons in the group. www.psi.de, www.psilogistics.com/en/
