SHANGHAI CITY LIGHTS - Christoph Spendel Trio
Press release from: Blue FLame Records
(openPR) - Wellcome to a new chapter of the Christoph Spendel Trio, the fourth CD with the original line-up: Christoph Spendel – Piano, André Nendza – Bass and Kurt Billker – Drums
The globe-trotter CHISTOPH SPENDEL - pianist, composer, producer, music professor and journalist, residentially based in Frankfurt am Main in Germany, composed new illustrious tracks, that offer a fresh compilation of different styles and rhythms. Striking is the active part the Blues has – the Cd starts with „Blues For Ray Charles“ and ends with the track „Prater Blues“, which Christoph Spendel wrote after returning from an interview with Joe Zawinul in Vienna, Austria.
Christoph Spendel: „The Blues was and is always present. When I was 12 years old, I heard „Night Train“ Blues from Oscar Peterson for the first time and since then I am connceted to this form of music. About 10 years ago I returned back to Germany, leaving New York behind and began to wander a couple of years around, until my homesickness to Manhattan found an end in the track „Mainhatten“. In the mean time, having lost some of the splendour of the once famous Jazz Metropolis of the USA, the city has been overtaken by a city, whose ecconomic and also music developement has an enormous future – Shanghai and its „city lights“ remind much of the light panorama of New York. All these thoughts were part of the creation of the compositions mentioned above.“
Of course also Spendels Cuban influences had a part in his new production. „Casa Granda“, deducated to the largest hotel in Santiago and „Cardenas“, named after a small city in central Cuba are wittnesses of his journeys across the carribean island, that belongs to the rhythmic heartbeat of the world.
Christoph Spendel: „Even if I use different dialects, my main tongue is Jazz. The 2 Jazz standards „It Could Happen To You“ and „I Hear A Rhapsody“ belong since years to our Trio Live Repertoire and it was only a question of time, when we would release our interpretations on CD.“
The Trio, playing since 7 years in the original line-up, belongs to the leading piano trios of Germany. The drummer, Kurt Billker, in the mean time playing at Spendels side for over 25 years and the sensible but still energetic bass player, André Nendza build the ultimative dreamteam for every form of musical adventure.
Track List: 01. Blues For Ray Charles 4:55 // 02. Shanghai City Lights 5:02 // 03. Forgotten Summer 6:56 // 04. Mambo Influenciado 3:41 // 05. It Could Happen To You 7:03 // 06. Casa Granda 4:21 // 07. Poinciana 7:41 // 08. Mainhattan 4:14 // 09. Cardenas 5:47 // 10. I Hear A Rhapsody 6:02 // 11. Prater Blues 4:19

Comments about openPR
OpenPR ist the nicest and most clearly laid out PR platform I have seen to this day. The press releases are displayed very nicely and clearly and without any unnecessary frills.
The updates are fast and the finished release looks appealing and is clearly legible.
Even with 16 years of experience one discovers new things from time to time.
Congratulations!
