(openPR) - Multilingualism makes the web-based project leadership software the first choice for international teams

Graz, Nov 27, 2008 – Onepoint Software, leading European vendor for commercial open source project and portfolio management solutions (PPM), has just officially launched its new software release, Onepoint Project 8.1. The “Professional Edition” and the “Group Edition” of the software are now available in the webstore of Onepoint Software GmbH (www.onepoint-project.com). The new release of the project leadership software has been further optimized in close cooperation with project teams and integrates all functionalities from planning and monitoring through to controlling. The Enterprise Edition, the tool for company-wide use, can be extended via optional modules. The new version is already available in German and English. By mid-December it will also feature the French, Spanish, Italian and Russian languages. From then on, Onepoint Project will be available in six languages altogether, which makes it the ideal software for international teams.

The optimizations in Onepoint Project 8.1 have been developed based on customer requests; they resulted in extended project and resource planning functionalities as well as in “what if” scenarios for project managers. Also, project planning features, like “reverse” or “start-finish” dependency types and work breaks have been integrated. In addition, the software now boasts improved import and export functionalities from and to the widely used project planning tool Microsoft Project.

Additional features: Subprojects and Availability Scheduling
Two optional modules are available with the new version 8.1 of the Enterprise Edition, Onepoint´s product for enterprise-wide usage: The Program Management Option offers the possibility to split large programs and projects into smaller sub-projects. At the same time, project teams can view the current project status through features such as the milestone trend analysis (MTA) and get an understanding of the big picture. The Availability Scheduling Option visualizes days off and sick leaves as well as the availability of machines and tools.

Multilingualism for Users and Database
As a genuine Web 2.0 tool, the new version Onepoint Project 8.1 also offers the possibility of adjusting the user interface to language requirements. Users will be able to choose between German and English, French, Spanish, Italian and Russian. The database supports Unicode, a standard which provides a comprehensive, universal character set for all languages in the world. Apart from Latin characters it also recognizes all other characters such as, e.g., Cyrillic. With Unicode local teams can cooperate in their own languages and at the same time also be part of superordinate, international teams using a different language – all within the same tool.
