(openPR) - DALLAS – Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP is proud to welcome Hiroaki Furuya as Managing Director of the firm’s growing International Tax and Transfer Pricing Specialty Practice Group.

Mr. Furuya was a founding member of the Tokyo transfer pricing practice at Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) and helped initiate the first bilateral Advance Pricing Agreement between Japan and Germany.

“Our International Tax and Transfer Pricing group has seen a significant increase in interest in transfer pricing matters related to Japan,” says Gardere Managing Partner Steve Good. “To be able to add someone with Hiroaki’s background to this growing practice will be invaluable to our clients. With his addition, we will have one of the largest transfer pricing and international taxation practices of any law firm in the world.”

Mr. Furuya has extensive experience handling Japanese transfer pricing audits and competent authority cases, and negotiating advance pricing agreements. He has successfully concluded multiple Japanese APA and competent authority cases with the United States, Germany, Italy and Switzerland. His clients have included companies in the automotive, high-tech, hospitality, luxury goods, medical device, pharmaceutical and software industries.

Gardere’s International Tax and Transfer Pricing Specialty Practice Group partners with some of the world's most recognized multinational enterprises in developing inter-company transfer pricing strategies and resolving international tax disputes.

Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, an AmLaw 200 firm, was founded in 1909 and is one of the Southwest’s largest full-service law firms.
