(openPR) - Enabling higher quality and significant cost reduction for SAP® project development and go-live

Munich, October 24, 2008 - Galileo Tools GmbH, one of the leading suppliers of software solutions for change and transport management of SAP®, has announced the immediate release of its latest product, Conigma™ DEVSYNC. Conigma™ DEVSYNC has been developed in particular for SAP landscapes with parallel development and QA systems, i.e. for maintenance and project development, which needs to be synchronized regularly.

Increasingly more companies develop and maintain their SAP systems, using two different approaches in parallel - release- or project oriented development (a set of new functionality is developed over a longer period of time and transitions into production at a defined point in time) and continuous development (each single change request or bug fix moves into productive status immediately after completion of development) and having quite often also different teams for the both approaches. For implementation of the above approach with two different parallel development methodologies, customers are using usually a so called 5-system SAP landscape, which have two development systems (one for maintenance development, one for project/release development) as well as two QA systems (again one for maintenance development, one for project/release development) and one production system. Latest at the time, the project or release shall go live, it is necessary to synchronize the changes, which have been deployed on the maintenance line with the with these of the project or new release (Merge).

Conigma™ DEVSYNC calculates the difference between the both SAP systems, which needs to be synchronized and displays the result via a graphical user interface (there are also other display options, i.e. displaying all identical objects in the both SAP systems). To calculate this difference, the user has different options for the starting point, i.e. any specific time stamp, the date of the last synchronization, etc. – additionally when using Conigma™ CCM, the user is able to switch on powerful filters, for example, only change requests which are part of a specific release, only change requests having a specific status. After calculating the difference, Conigma™ DEVSYNC automatically generates transport orders for all objects, which has been changed only on one SAP system and import this into the SAP system needing synchronization. Also collisions are reported and the user needs to decide how deal with these moving forward.

“During the development of a SAP project or a new release, Conigma DEVSYNC allows at any time for updating the development system used for the new project/release to reflect the most current status of the production system. It is possible now to easily detect and fix problems, typically caused by changing the same objects independently in both development systems, very early in the development cycle. Moving a new project/release into production therefore (release cutover) becomes a matter of a couple of hours and may happen fully automated,” said Josef Huber, General Manager Galileo Tools GmbH.

Conigma DEVSYNC is licensed for each SAP System which is the target for synchronization. Users of Conigma CCM with an active maintenance and support contract receive Conigma DEVSYNC as part of this agreement.
