World Campus - Japan International Participants at Miyjima Island, Hiroshima

The nonprofit educational organization, World Campus International, Inc. is offering an opportunity to travel to Japan in the spring of 2009. For this spring, there will be three 2 week programs separated by three days off in between each one. Participants can choose whether they want to travel during the Cherry Blossom season to the Kansai Area (middle of Japan, March 9th – March 23rd), the Kanto Area (eastern Japan, March 26th – April 9th) or the Kyusyu Area (southwest Japan, April 12th – April 26th). Of course it is also possible to apply for two or three programs and to set up a personal agenda during the time off in between. Each program provides stays in two cities with participants from around the world. All participants stay with local host families, which is really a major highlight of the journey.

The World Campus – Japan program offers the unique opportunity to get to know both traditional as well as modern Japan. Participants will take part in experiences ranging from discussions with a Buddhist monk or learning the art of a traditional green tea ceremony to talking to local business people about the economy. Another part of this program involves visiting schools or handicap facilities in order to give something back to the communities that they stayed in. At the end of each city visit, all participants also take part in a festive Thank-you Event for the host community.

Applications to participate and further information can be found at http://worldcampus.org. On the weblog http://worldcampusblog.org it’s also possible to learn more about past World Campus – Japan programs.
