The Dallas Margarita Society holds Happy Hour social events each month and everyone is encouraged to come and meet the Directors and Members there.
LAYOUT OF THE BALL:
For 2008, the exciting additions to our 32nd Anniversary Ball will make it the biggest event in our history. We use all three floors of the Sheraton Dallas Hotel Convention Center to make this event an event you don’t want to miss.
Entry to the Ball is up the escalator from the hotel’s main entrance, then across the sky-bridge to the Convention Center.
Guests will be entertained as they enter the sky-bridge entry area by the nuevo flamenco sounds of the Saul Hewitt Band. The 2nd Floor will feature The Wonders and The Klocks in the Main (Lone Star) Ballroom with continuous live music and dancing from 8:00 PM until 1:30 AM. In the foyer, our guests will be amazed to see the mountain of toys accumulate in the Toy Collection Area and enjoy browsing through our world class Silent Auction.
The DMS tradition continues, as our guests will find our signature Margarita Fountains, featuring long-time corporate sponsor SAUZA Tequila, flowing with sumptuous libation throughout the evening in the Main Ballroom. Escalators from the 2nd Floor foyer will carry guests to more of our Ball festivities. The 1st (ground) floor is again this years surprise grand addition and our new Sponsor, Vox Vodka presents the Vox Vodka Vault, a Las Vegas style club featuring live, from Las Vegas, internationally renowned DJ Presto One spinning tunes. Also on the 1st Floor is our entertainment casino and raffle, featuring a dazzling casino complete with blackjack, craps, roulette, and a Texas Hold ‘Em Poker contest. Join us for this fabulous new concept addition to the Margarita Charity Ball. The escalators are located to the left as you enter the foyer from the sky-bridge. Take the escalators up to the 3rd Floor and guests will find another entire party level, complete with our famous cigar lounge, along with the sexy smooth jazz tunes of The David Carr Jr. Band.
WILL CALL AND DRINK TICKETS
A Will Call table will be set up in the Hotel lobby beginning at 1:00 PM on the afternoon of the Ball. Guests may arrange to leave or pick up Ball invitations there. Ball drink tickets may be purchased at the Hotel check-in area
MIDNIGHT BREAKFAST
The Ball will feature a Midnight Breakfast Buffet from midnight to 2:00 AM. We highly recommend that guests rest, relax, re-fuel and re-hydrate before ending their evening with us and leaving the Ball. Cost is $14 per person and the Midnight Breakfast Buffet will be situated in the Austin Ballroom, located at the hotel side of the 2nd Floor sky-bridge that crosses to the Main Ballroom.
BEVERAGES
It certainly would not be the Dallas Margarita Ball without the signature margaritas, featuring delicious SAUZA Tequila. Guests will find them flowing from 18 fountains in the Main Ballroom throughout the night until they run dry. As a “thank you” for guest’s toy donation, the Dallas Margarita Society provides these free of charge. Cash bars are also available on all three floors of the Ball. All guests who consume alcohol are encouraged to drink responsibly and TABC regulations are strictly enforced.
ATTIRE
THE BALL IS A FORMAL EVENT. BLACK TIE ATTIRE IS STRONGLY SUGGESTED. For Gentlemen - a tuxedo is preferred or, at a minimum, a dark suit and tie are acceptable. Because of the formal nature of the Ball, guests with open collared shirts without a tie, “Texas Tuxedos” (tuxedo top and jeans), any denim, and/or hats will NOT be admitted. This policy will be strictly enforced throughout the entire evening. For Ladies – evening gowns can be long or short. Sequins are definitely appropriate. This is one of those rare times where you cannot be overdressed.
WHY:
While the number one reason DMS hosts the Ball every year is to provide guests with more fun than is allowed in most states, guests also know that its “Party With a Purpose” theme extends good times far beyond this spectacular Ball. A VERY close second reason for the Ball is to generate truckloads of toys that are used to delight thousands of underprivileged children in the Dallas / Fort Worth region during the holiday season. Each guest is requested to bring an unwrapped toy valued at $25 or more, knowing that their gifts may be the only presents these kids will receive for Christmas.

The Dallas Margarita Society, Inc., (d.b.a. Dallas Children's Charities) was formed in 1977 when a small group of business acquaintances decided to host a holiday party for associates and friends, and asked their guests to bring Christmas gifts for less fortunate children. The Society is a non-profit charitable organization whose goals are twofold. The first is to provide disadvantaged Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex children with gifts at Christmas time and the second is to help those community organizations that work directly with underprivileged children throughout the year. Their Charity Ball has grown over the years and is now believed to be the largest annual invitation only charity black tie gala in the world, with over 9,000 guests, providing gifts for more than 6,800 disadvantaged children each year.
The Dallas Margarita Society achieves its goals by hosting fundraising happy hours throughout the year, an annual golf tournament in early summer and the Charity Ball early in the holiday season. At the Ball, guests are encouraged to bring toys or sponsor gifts with cash. Additionally, sponsors are solicited and through their generosity the Society provides operating support and scholarships to numerous community organizations. In 2007, The Dallas Margarita Society/Dallas Children's Charities collected over $405,000 in toys and cash in conjunction with over $175,000 in corporate and individual sponsorship donations. All fund-raising activities and events are donated to local DFW children's charities.
