Will provide ‘Live’ Experience of Smart Data Center and world-class products from major vendor partners such as Dell, Cisco, Sun, APC, EMC, Oracle, Microsoft ,Citrix, Nokia and others

Dubai, United Arab Emirates, October 18, 2008: Emirates Computers announced that it will focus on providing visitors a ‘Live Technology Experience’ of the latest trends including Smart Data Center Solutions, Green Technology Products, TelePresence Solutions and more at GITEX Technology Week 2008. The company’s stand at the mega technology event will include a fully-functional setup of a Smart Data Center, TelePresence and other leading technologies. Emirates Computers will also place the spotlight on world-class ‘Green’ technologies from its key vendor partners in addition to meeting customers and partners from across the region.

“The Live Smart Data Center and TelePresence setups are core to our show and they include many additional technologies such as iBMS (intelligent building management systems), virtualization (desktop & server) and unified communications. In addition we are also showcasing a number of the latest interactive and digital signage technologies and a wide array of business applications and industry-specific applications covering enterprise mobility, customer relationship management, enterprise content management, point of sales, self service solutions, rapid prototyping and computer aided design, hospitality and property management, and more,” says Mr. Khaldoun Al Shaama, Marketing & Business Development Director, Emirates Computers.

Organizations are realizing that as computing requirements increase and real estate costs as well as environmental concerns rise, energy consumption needs more control to drive efficiency. For large organizations that depend heavily on IT infrastructure it becomes instrumental to properly manage their IT expenditure without compromising on performance and scalability. Hence the need for a Smart Data Center.

Mr. Shaama continues, “The Smart Data Center is part of our vast Smart Living Solutions portfolio. In this context, ‘Smart’ means Ubiquitous, Green, Connected, Interactive, Secure and Intelligent. The concept of the Smart Data Center transforms the Data Center itself from a physical facility or hardware/software environment to a live environment or a ‘strategy’ – rather than an objective – so that the business and the enabling technology work towards the same goals.”

Mr. Walid Moussa, Technical Sales Support Manager, Emirates Computers, elaborates, “Visitors will get a chance to experience a complete, fully-functioning, Live Data Center setup. This setup will not just highlight platform infrastructure, network infrastructure and applications and servers, but will also have raised flooring, cable management, active cooling, as well as advanced access control and monitoring tools for the Data Center. Our product range for this setup includes technologies from leading partners such as Dell, EMC, Sun Microsystems, Cisco, VMWare and others. We wish to offer visitors a complete ‘experience’ of the Smart Data Center.”

Another major attraction at the Emirates Computers’ stand is the Live TelePresence demo. A Cisco Gold Partner and the only company in the UAE to have achieved the Cisco ATP (Authorized Technology Provider) status for TelePresence solutions, Emirates Computers has fulfilled the training requirements and program prerequisites to sell, deploy and support Cisco TelePresence solutions. The company also has a vast experience in deploying Cisco Unified Communications and Audio Visual solutions, thus guaranteeing the needed knowledge, professionalism and service quality to deploy and support this technology.

“TelePresence is a revolutionary technology that changes the entire realm of communication. Essentially, it offers a live, ‘face-to-face’, virtual meeting experience so you can communicate with people from across the globe as if you’re in the same room. As a result, companies save time and cost and also make better, faster business decisions,” says Mr. Talal Sabih, Technical Team Leader & Product Manager, Networking & Security Division, Emirates Computers, adding “Visitors to EC’s stand will not only get to check out the technology, but they can actually experience a Live Demo of a complete TelePresence setup in action. Basically, we will be using the technology to conference between two adjacent rooms and visitors can expect the same experience as they would if it had been setup in their own organization in real life.”

“Emirates Computers has identified Cisco TelePresence as a technology that can provide a lot of business advantage and also enable companies to go ‘Green’ by reducing travel needs. CISCO TelePresence includes the most complete and relevant products. Emirates Computers has therefore decided to invest in promoting this technology and enabling technical and sales teams to support it,” Mr. Sabih adds.

“We believe that the event is a great platform for us to address the demands of various visitors. In that context we gave special attention to areas that are on high demand or form the latest in terms of innovation in as many industries and technology fields as possible. We hope that every visitor finds something to benefit from and enjoy the experience.” concludes Mr. Shaama
Emirates Computers will be exhibiting at Stand No. C4-1, in Hall 4 at Gitex Technology Week 2008 and at Stand No.CB4 at GITEX Shopper & Consumer Electronics Expo 2008. Senior representatives from the company will be on hand to meet visitors, customers and partners at the event.
