(openPR) - Marksuhl, October 2008 – as a leading manufacturer of passport processing solutions, ruhlamat has developed the first complete ePassport production solution, from booklet production up to personalization/perforation.
The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) advised to increase the security features of travel documents. Shortly after, the electronical passport (ePassport) has been developed and launched in different countries, like Taiwan.
In this context the Taiwanese national printing company CEPP made a tender for the production of an “ePassport production line” in 2006. They required a machine solution which never before existed on the market in this way. Although ruhlamat has been developing machines for personalization of ePassports until then, they decided to take part in this tender.
Before 2006, ruhlamat produced a prototype for the perforation of passports for CEPP yet. The fact that the Taiwanese national printing company was very satisfied with this innovative and highly developed machine solution led to the triumph of ruhlamat in the tender of 2006. With the ruhlamat´s PA2000 assembling line and the LP2000 personalization/perforation line, which are equipped with a high-tech camera quality inspection system, ruhlamat patented sewing technology, using a separate transport system and an integrated Data Management System (DMS), Taiwan is now in a position to completely manufacture ePassports.

With another tender, ruhlamat won in Spain in 2008, they assume to “have a very good starting situation for the introduction of biometric ePassports in all single countries” Matthias Koch, product manager of ruhlamat, stated.
