A community festival called 'Bridging the Gap' is set to occur on Anna Maria Island from October 2 to November 16. The festival, one of many Anna Maria Island Events held throughout the year, is organized by the island's local shops and restaurants.

ANNA MARIA ISLAND, FL -- Anna Maria Island will host the 'Bridging the Gap' festival from October 2, until November 16.

Island businesses have organized 30 different events for the public. Some of the activities include a trolley scavenger hunt, a dog costume contest, karaoke, open-air markets and a golf tournament.

Events will take place at certain times throughout the six-week Anna Maria Island bridge closure. 'Bridging the Gap' is one of the many Anna Maria Island events that local retailers will participate in throughout the year.

"Many local businesses wanted to get together and do something fun. We think we've got a great diverse group of events planned with something for everyone," said Sue Burnley, Operations Manager of Anna Maria Gulf Coast Rentals (www.amgcrentals.com/), an Anna Maria vacation rentals resource and one of the festivals contributors. Proceeds from the event will be donated to local charities and some of the merchants will be offering discounts throughout the bridge closure.
