Onepoint adds Program Management and Availability Scheduling to Enterprise Project Management Software

Onepoint Project release 8.1 and SaaS launch expected by the end of October; preview version shown at SYSTEMS tradeshow

Graz, Sep 25, 2008 – Onepoint Software, the leading European vendor for commercial open source project and portfolio management solutions (PPM), announced the availability of its new software release 8.1 as well as the launch of its upcoming SaaS product line for the end of October. The new SaaS product will be called Onepoint Project On Demand and will be hosted by IBM in their new high-end data center near Frankfurt, Germany. Onepoint Project provides an innovative and fresh new approach to integrated project planning, monitoring and controlling. With more than 70.000 downloads of the open source edition of the product, the software solution is best known for its simplicity and its ease-of-use.

With the new software release and the introduction of a SaaS product line, Onepoint underlines their focus on enterprise-class solutions for medium and large project-driven organizations. Most new features such as advanced project and resource planning functionalities as well as “what if” scenarios for the project manager are a direct reaction to requests coming from existing customers and recent prospects. The introduction of advanced project scheduling features such as reverse or “start-finish” dependency types and work breaks will also once more improve the import and export functionality from and to the widely used project planning tool Microsoft Project.

Release 8.1 will introduce two new optional modules for the Enterprise Edition, Onepoint’ s flagship product: The Program Management Option will introduce the concept of sub-projects into Onepoint Project. Using this new functionality large programs and projects can be split up into more manageable pieces (sub-projects) while all members of the project team are still able to take advantage of all the single project management features such as interlinking activities or the milestone-trend analysis (MTA). The Availability Scheduling Option will allow scheduling planned vacations and sick-leaves for human resources as well as downtimes for machines. Whenever a resource is scheduled as not available, it cannot be assigned to new activities during that time and the period of unavailability is automatically highlighted in Onepoint’s resource utilization chart.

Onepoint Project is available as both open source and commercial software, leaving project organizations the choice between SaaS and installation. The software supports many user interface languages including English, German, Spanish und French.
