OpenTech Systems Announces DASD Full Volume Backup Time and Resource Savings and z/OS 1.10 EAV Support
Dallas, TX / September 16, 2008 – – OpenTech Systems, Inc., a leading provider of z/OS Disaster Recovery and Storage Management solutions to automate IT processes and ensure Business Continuity for IBM z/OS centric data centers, today announced a new release of its popular DASD Backup Supervisor product (DBS) which supports z/OS 1.10 as well as Extended Address Volumes (EAV).DBS will also intelligently read DFDSS messages and errors encountered during the backup process and depending on the error or message, will allow the backup job to continue thereby eliminating manual intervention and ensuring the backup jobs complete faster.
In addition, the capability to support VSE volumes that are online to z/OS has been added. DBS already supports CDL Linux and VM volumes and VSE volume backup support is an addition. VSE volumes can be backed up and recovered just like z/OS, CDL Linux, and VM volumes.

DASD Backup Supervisor automates the Full Volume backup and recovery process by continuously auditing for new, deleted, renamed or off-line volumes and automatically generating the backup and recovery jobs. And, DBS automates data replication technologies such as Flashcopy, SnapShot and TimeFinder. The Volumes may be stacked on high density tape to maximize media utilization or written to multiple drives simultaneously to reduce backup and recovery time.
