European seminar “Management of EU Funded Projects”

Associations & Organizations
Press release from: European Academy for Taxes, Economics & Law
(openPR) - How to plan and implement projects according to the EU funds regulations and how to improve project strategies and performance will be the main topics of the European seminar “Management of EU Funded Projects”, organized by the European Academy for Taxes, Economics & Law, 20th and 21st October 2008, at the Hotel Berlin in Berlin, Germany. The seminar is set up for employees in charge of project management in clusters, cross border, social or regional development projects in all European Member States.

Project management means planning, organising and managing resources to bring about the successful achievement of specific project goals and objectives. While project management tools already are already well known in bigger private companies, the special circumstances in EU funded projects create specific challenges. The primary challenge of project management is to achieve all of the project goals while adhering to classic constraints such as quality, time and budget. The more ambitious challenge is to optimise the allocation and integration of inputs necessary to meet pre-defined objectives.

What makes project management challenging in EU funded projects is to choose an appropriate funding programme. A wide range of EU grants, programmes and initiatives and a huge funding budget offers new possibilities for projects. Once a project has been approved, it needs to meet formal requirements set out by European regulations. Project Managers have to be aware that each EU programme features different legal demands. Co-financing of projects from the EU programmes raises additional challenges. Additionally, several programmes address cooperation projects with international partners. This requires special skills as well as careful and strategic preparation.

This European seminar provides the required knowledge on project management with a focus on EU funded projects. The aim of the course is to learn how to plan and to implement projects according to the EU funds regulations and how to improve project strategies to ensure better performance. Furthermore, experts explain relevant issues of financial management within a project. Due to the great importance of international cooperation projects speakers will also demonstrate consortium schemes and duties of Lead Partners. The course is thought mainly for employees of projects, institutions and companies with little experience in project management of EU funded projects. Beginners with no experience are also welcome.
