British software developer, Valuechain Technology has acquired the assets of calibration software developer Retriever Technology.
Valuechain’s acquisition of Retriever Technology is the latest in a string of actions to develop their DNA4.0® platform into a holistic solution for manufacturing businesses to prepare for the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It builds on the acquisition of Tricorn Systems in 2016, the formation of a data science team in Bangalore and recent announcements of collaborative projects through LCR4.0 with University of Liverpool, John Moores University, Sensor City, Hartree Centre and IBM.
Retriever Technology has been providing specialised calibration software for over 30 years to hundreds of advanced manufacturing companies, including BAE Systems, GKN, Toyota, Cosworth and Force India.
Valuechain’s CEO Tom Dawes explained the strategy behind the acquisition “We plan to combine the proven Retriever calibration software with the latest sensor technology and machine learning algorithms to connect smart factories using our DNA4.0® platform.
Over the next few years, manufacturing businesses are going to invest significantly in Industry 4.0 technologies which will generate huge volumes of data. However, to generate effective return on investment, companies must convert data into intelligence by ensuring that the right data is shared in the right format, with the right people, at the right time.
The first aspect is assuring that reliable data is consistently generated from standardised processes, and we see integrating Retriever’s calibration software as a key step to helping our clients capture reliable data from their assets”.
Richard Tatlow, founder of Retriever Technology, commented “We are delighted to have sold our business to an organisation that has the vision, team and technology to transform our calibration software into a world leading solution.”

Valuechain provides innovative technology to connect smart factories and smart supply chains. Our DNA4.0® platform provides productivity solutions that streamline operations and convert data captured dynamically from people, plant and processes, into business intelligence. Our iQluster® supply chain collaboration and intelligence platform simplifies intercompany communication and securely captures multi-tier supply chain intelligence. Following the award of a €3.2m Horizon 2020 project from the European Commission, we are working with global manufacturing businesses, governments, industry associations and Universities to continually innovate our smart technologies and connect cross-sector collaborative ecosystems that can compete as world class supply chains.
