(openPR) - Fremont, CA - Lighthouse Worldwide Solutions today announced a new advanced Homeland Security training course: “Building Dynamics: Proactive CBR Response for High Value Targets” (golighthouse.com/response). Developed and taught by emergency responders, the course teaches how to proactively prepare for, detect, and respond to intentional and unintentional releases of chemical, biological, and radiological agents indoors. New methods and technologies taught in the course offer unique capabilities, including real-time detection of unknown CBR agents.
One of the course instructors, with experience in both leadership and science/analytical roles as a National Guard WMD responder, says the course teaches new response skills that aren’t covered by standard CBR response training, including:
• Building vulnerability assessment and protection
• New technology to detect attacks or unintentional releases in real time
• Intervention to reduce or eliminate exposure during an incident
• How to select and protect a shelter-in-place location from CBR releases
He emphasized that the course is focused on practical skills that can be used in real-world situations. “This isn’t theory – it includes hands-on training in real facilities.”
Michael Thomas, who organizes the course for Lighthouse Worldwide Solutions, said the course is valuable for anyone who needs to protect or respond to an incident in a facility, such as emergency responders, incident commanders, facility managers, security professionals, and emergency managers. But Thomas cautioned that the course isn’t open to everyone: “Because of the sensitive nature of some of the material, we need to verify that everyone is who they say they are, and that they hold an appropriate position – it’s our responsibility to make sure the information only gets used for the right purposes.”
