IT, New Media & Software
Press release from: QNAP Systems, Inc.
PR Agency: QNAP Systems, Inc
(openPR) - QNAP’s recently launched All-in-One, 5-bay TS-509 Pro Turbo NAS has been reviewed by the professional Internet and technology review media SmallNetBuilder and presented its stable and superior performance in the benchmark test. “QNAP has gone all out to make its five-drive NAS a top performer…TS-509 Pro sets new performance highs”, summarized in the review article. The benchmark test measures the average file system performance of the NAS at Ethernet connection speed under linear array and RAID 5 mode. The results show that QNAP’s TS-509 Pro outperforms other 4-bay and 5-bay NAS products. "The 509 Pro has exceptionally flat performance out to 512 MB filesizes, with speeds exceeding 55 MB/s." reported by the editor from SmallNetBuilder.

The TS-509 Pro is designed for small business to enterprise users who require performance, features, capacity, and manageability. “We aimed at providing a really good solution for business users to meet their storage and file sharing demand. At the same time, the file transfer performance is the key to business productivity enhancement. We believe the TS-509 Pro is the answer to these requirements”, said Jeffrey Chen, QNAP’s Quality Assurance Manager. “According to the NetBench test results in QNAP lab, the TS-509 Pro is 3 to 10 times faster than all the other NAS at the same level. Our NAS is able to provide steadily outstanding performance during multiple concurrent data access. This reflects the TS-509 Pro's capability as the most ideal file server solution in a business environment.”

Powered by Intel Celeron 1.6GHz CPU, 1GB DDRII memory, the TS-509 Pro provides unique DOM architecture with embedded fail-safe dual OS. The Linux OS and applications of the NAS are embedded in the flash DOM that higher stability is guaranteed. The two Gigabit LAN ports can be configured as Failover, Load balancing, and link aggregation. Also, the TS-509 Pro supports RAID 0/ 1/ 5/ 6/ 5+Spare and JBOD, hot swappable hard drive design, a handy LCD panel for “Touch-N-Go” PC-less RAID installation and basic server configuration, schedule power on/off and Wake on LAN.

Moreover, the TS-509 Pro offers versatile server functions, e.g. File server, FTP server, printer server (max. 3 sets), DDNS support, Web server with built-in phpMyAdmin, Joomla, MySQL/ SQLite, editable php.ini, MySQL server, UPnP/DLNA media streaming (built-in TwonkyMedia server), iTunes server for music sharing, HTTP/FTP/BT download server etc. All these server functions can be shared among different users across Linux, UNIX, Mac, and Windows platforms.
