FireWire 800 is the next generation 1394 FireWire technology which is slowly replacing the current FireWire 400 (1394a) standard. These two products complement each other due to the new enclosure’s support for the FireWire 800 interface allowing higher speed of data transfer at 800 Mbps which is a significant increase compared to the more common Hi-Speed USB interface transferring at the speed of about 480 Mbps.
