(openPR) - Adam Caller, founder of a leading international private tutors agency, warns parents not to fall into the trap of thinking that private schools are always the best option for challenging children, citing an example of a student expelled from Western Academy Beijing.
"I felt compelled to make a statement about this after seeing how the right kind of private tuition and understanding of a particular student in Beijing made such a huge difference to him, his family and his future," Adam explained. "The young man was expelled from Western Academy Beijing after he made a mistake in trying to impress a gang of bullies in order to avoid being bullied himself. This boy is incredibly bright, but the school simply did not find the right way to engage him, or deal with this group of troublesome students. The family found themselves in a terrible situation: their child had been expelled from a prestigious private school, he had effectively lost a semester of work, thus damaging his grade point average, and it seemed impossible for him to be able to attend any decent university, let alone the Ivy League school he wanted."
"The family called us in," Adam continued, "and with the help of a full-time live-in tutor, this disillusioned teenager raised his grade point average from 3.3 to 3.7 in only four months after he was enrolled in a structured distance learning program. He'll have 13 more A grades by the end of the year, and with the extra classes he has opted for, he'll be on track to get his grade point average to 4 and above, meaning he has every chance of getting into his chosen college," Adam enthused.
"We have arranged for him to have daily private tuition with a Cambridge University professor during his summer holidays in the UK, which he is enjoying immensely. This demonstrates to me that with the most challenging students, the right kind of intervention can make all the difference. Many families assume that if they are paying for their child to attend the most prestigious private schools, the child will automatically get the best education." Adam concluded; "I urge parents of children in this situation who are failing at school to consider the possibility of making an alternative choice like this family in Beijing."
