Wibu-Systems: Booth and Presentation at the Games Convention Developers Conference 2008 in Leipzig
Press release from: WIBU-SYSTEMS AG
(openPR) - Effective Protection of Intellectual Property for the Computer Games Industry
How to best meet both ends: “protection” interests of the computer games industry and end-user “fair use” interests? Wibu-Systems AG, a leading German manufacturer of hardware-based protection solutions for software, documents, access control and media, gives answers at the Games Convention Developers Conference from August 18th - 20th in Leipzig. At Booth A14 and in the presentation “Software Activation – Boon or Bane?” game developers learn everything about state-of-the-art solutions to protect and license their software, and on authentication over the Internet.
The 50-minute presentation takes place on August 18th, 6:00 p.m. in Room B, and will be in English for the international audience. The speaker Rüdiger Kügler compares different protection solutions: software-based activation with hardware-based dongle solutions. Also on the agenda, the secure integration into the games software and the management of licenses. Using the new software-based solution CodeMeterAct as an example, Kügler shows how to protect mass market low-priced software, ideal for the computer games industry! For enhanced protection needs, CodeMeterAct can be combined with the proven hardware-based solution CodeMeter.
Explains Oliver Winzenried, CEO and founder of Wibu-Systems AG: "All digital ideas can be protected. In order to meet the varied requests of the computer game industry in terms of security, license models, and new flexible sales & marketing models via the Internet, we enhanced the hardware-based solution CodeMeter. The new technology CodeMeterAct provides a pure software-based activation via the Internet and is 100% compatible to CodeMeter, especially interesting for demos and temporary licensing. Additionally, with CodeMeter Identity the game user is able to easily and safely authenticate in the Internet, even anonymously. And the user is able to manage a large number of passwords, independent from the software".
