Up against hot summer series “America’s Best Dance Crew,” “Degrassi,” “High School Musical: Get in the Picture,” and “So You Think You Can Dance,” “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” was the favored winner, armed by impressive viewer statistics and a quickly growing teen fan base.

Created and executive produced by Brenda Hampton (7th Heaven), “The Secret Life of the America Teenager” premiered on Tuesday, July 1, 2008. Since its original airdate, the series has continued to defy all trends, hitting series highs for its latest episodes in key targets. Impressively, “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” is summer 2008’s No. 1 scripted TV series in viewers 12-34 and females 12-34, and cable’s No. 1 scripted series in adults 18-34 and women 18-34. The series is the network’s most watched original series premiere ever.
The one hour drama currently airs on Tuesday nights on ABC Family at 8 PM ET/PT. The newly ordered episodes are tentatively scheduled to return to the air in January 2009, bringing the total episode order of Season One to 23.
