(openPR) - Cologne (Germany) – 21 July 2008 - mobivention and American Greetings Interactive announce a licence agreement about distributing American Greetings properties such as Care Bears, Strawberry Shortcake, Holly Hobbie, Twisted Whiskers and many more. The rights cover the usage of the brands for mobile contents for mobivention network operators clients.
Care Bears were created by American Greetings in 1981 and due to its success many merchandising articles were launched in 1983. The Care Bears appeared in their own television series from 1985 to 1988, in addition to three feature films: The Care Bears Movie (1985), Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation (1986), and The Care Bears Adventure in Wonderland (1987). Since the relaunch of the brand in 2002 about $2,4 billion in retail sales have been realized worldwide.
Since Strawberry Shortcakes launch for greeting cards in 1977 it became a huge trend worldwide. There were several merchandising products, TV shows and movies. In 2003 the brand was revived and made over $2,5 in retail sales worldwide since then. Worldwide more than 25 mio. dolls, 10 mio. toy accesso-ries, 12 mio. books and 15 mio. in clothing were sold.
Holly Hobbie was originally developed as a line of greeting cards in 1967. By the early 1980s, Holly Hobbie was the #1 worldwide licence generating over $1 billion in retail sales. In 2006, a redesigned Holly Hobbie was launched as part of a spin-off product line called "Holly Hobbie and Friends". She was featured in a movie titled Holly Hobbie and Friends: Surprise Party. The movie was aired on Nick Jr. and is available on DVD.
This licence agreement will provide new opportunities for mobivention to offer highly popular brands to network operators throughout Europe. Generations of girls and young women have been grown up with Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake. Now these brands available for mobile phones for this target group.
