Press release from: ICIDO Group

Stuttgart, 11.07.2008 - The ICIDO Summit ranks amongst the leading events devoted to application-oriented virtual reality in Europe. This year, the conference, which is being held from 25 to 26 September in the Millennium Hotel in Stuttgart, focuses mainly on virtual cooperation. With the slogan “Get together. Eye and decide.” an international programme with illustrious speakers from all over Europe and USA, including Joe Barkai of IDC as keynote speaker, awaits conference attendees.

Thinking together, working together. Really and virtually. What are the next steps? Where does it go from here? Pie in the sky or a real vision? What do companies really need? Which visions can be transformed into practicable solutions ? Anyone for whom these questions are relevant, should consider attending this year’s ICIDO Summit. With the congress focus ”Get together. Eye and decide.“ ICIDO picks up a trend that is playing an increasingly significant role in everyday company life: virtual cooperation beyond departmental, location and corporate bounds.

As keynote speaker ICIDO was able to enlist Joe Barkai of IDC, an leading analyst for product lifecycle management. Speakers from Daimler AG, Jaguar Land Rover and further prominent companies will be reporting on their experience of virtual reality in practical operation. ICIDO will also be presenting the Visual Decision Platform (VDP) 2008 with many new features. The accompanying specialist exhibition gives attendees the opportunity to find out about products and services in the virtual reality field.

In the evening programme, everything revolves around 3D worlds as well. ICIDO will be showing the new concert film entitled “U2 3D” which was filmed with high quality 3D digital cameras. The new technology succeeds in capturing the live atmosphere at concerts and gives viewers the impression of being ”in the middle of it“ – similarly to a immersive environment. A further highlight of the event is the ICIDO Virtual Reality Excellence Awards Ceremony which will take place during the gala evening. This prize is bestowed by ICIDO in recognition of outstanding practice-oriented applications in virtual product development.

The ICIDO Group (ICIDO GmbH, fleXilution GmbH, with branches in the USA) is a leading provider of interactive, visual decision-making systems. ICIDO solutions are simple and standardised and can be integrated in existing structures and processes with ease. When using the Visual Decision Platform (VDP) technology, customers derive benefits from an improved possibility of assessing and evaluating three-dimensional computer data in product development and in the simplification and acceleration of coordination processes in interdisci-plinary teams. Errors can be detected early on, optimum solutions can be determined better and the creation of physical prototypes can be reduced. This results in considerable cost savings, reduced development times and quality enhancements. Areas of application range across the entire product creation process from design/styling, engineering design, assembly and production planning to marketing and sales. Customers receive a complete solution from ICIDO consisting of software and services and also the necessary hardware, for example a power wall system. ICIDO customers are to be found in the automotive industry (Daimler-Chrysler, BMW, Ford, Bosch, Faurecia), in the transportation sector (Siemens Transportation Systems, MTU, Rheinmetall, Airbus), machine and system construction (Trumpf, Festo, IWKA and Siemens Power Generation) and in research and teaching (FH Esslingen, FH Pforzheim, TU Chemnitz, TU Munich, BA Mosbach), for example.
