Tourism, Cars, Traffic
Press release from: PSI AG
(openPR) - Berlin, 3 July 2008 – The PSI subsidiary PSI Transcom GmbH has been awarded as a general contractor by the public transportation company Stadtwerke Augsburg Verkehrs-GmbH with the introduction of a depot management system. The order consists of the delivery, installation and commissioning of the solution with the goal of the data-technical linking of the complete operations for two plants.

To increase the capacity and the performance of the depot management, the depot management from PSI will be a part of a comprehensive control and monitoring system. By means of interfaces to SAP in the areas of workshop, supply and disturbance, for scheduling duty planning system as well as for the ITCS-System (Intermodal Transport Control System) which is currently being implemented, an overall data-technical linking of the operations will be guaranteed for the first time.

The positioning of the vehicles for the bus segment is supported by the latest RFID technology and allows for a detailed tracking of vehicles and parking spots. The current positioning components for both the segments bus and tram will be integrated and expanded in the new total positioning concept.

With its vehicle fleet the Stadtwerke Augsburg guarantees the transportation of about 53 million passengers per year. In the course of the “Mobility Hub Project” the tram system will be further expanded and improved. Efficient depot procedures, continuous dispatcher information about the status of the vehicles including the workshop and the comprehensive overview of all the depot resources should provide additional opportunities for savings in the future.

The project will start in July of this year; the start-up of operations will occur at the end of 2009. With the contract from the Stadtwerke Augsburg PSI is strengthening its position in the field of public transportation in southern Germany.
