(openPR) - June 28th, 2008 – VICTORIA, BC, CANADA – With the uncertainty of the Cloverfield movie continuing its saga with an unconfirmed sequel, many forums across the Internet have asked the question, “Will there ever be a continuation of a monster genre of this caliber again?”
Brad Johnson, founder of an online independent gaming company called Planet X Fiction Interactive, is committed to delivering an independently created video game that follows the same inspiration as the Cloverfield movie. The video game is entitled “Grayshot” and it follows a similar path to Cloverfield as a giant monster appears in New York City and demolishes the environment surrounding it.
“I really enjoyed the Cloverfield movie,” Brad Johnson mentions, “and as we’re currently in the dark as to when a particular sequel to this film is announced, I wanted to make an independent video game based off the same feeling of fear and suspense that Cloverfield delivered to everyone who saw it. I believe Grayshot has the capability to not only derive that same form of suspense and fear, but it will also create a genre of video game that hasn’t been too well explored. It shouldn’t be considered a first person shooter, more like a first person experience.”
According to the official Grayshot video game’s website, the video game allows the player to portray an everyday innocent bystander that witnesses the destruction of New York City right before their eyes. Unlike many popular video game titles that attract players through “shoot ‘em up” features, Grayshot is considered to be quite the opposite.
“There’s not that much shooting in the game,” Brad Johnson continues, “this game is based on a realistic feel. Similar to what Cloverfield delivered to its audiences. You need to scour what you can find on the city streets and defend yourself against the dangers you come across. This really adds a unique concept to the first person video game genre as this really hasn’t been touched on too much.”
Another feature about Grayshot is its mysterious viral marketing campaign that falls around the same lines as Cloverfield. With an in-depth story yet to be revealed to fans by Brad Johnson, a large online mystery showcases bits of pieces of information through multiple online blogs and microsites.
“The Cloverfield experience may be over or on hiatus, but I do encourage anyone that is a huge Cloverfield fan to check out the Grayshot game as it keeps the spirit of this incredible monster movie alive in a whole new form. It’s a whole new monster, a whole new story and a whole new experience.”
Grayshot is a Half Life 2 modification game currently in the development stages. A release date has yet to be announced. For more information, fans are encouraged to visit www.grayshotgame.com.
