An Appeal for Film Financing through Private Equity at the Berlin Film Festival

Press release from: Stories of Faith Ltd.
(openPR) - A clear identity and positioning in the market would be key to convince the media savvy investors of today, stated media attorney Steven A. Reich during the GLOBAL FILM FINANCE 7 conference, held on February 9th, 2006 at the Berlin Film Festival.

While input speaker Josef Brandmaier of Bayerische Banken Fonds, Germany and panelists David Groenewold of GFP Medienfonds, Germany argued for a continued need for Government-supported tax incentives as well as pre-sales of up to 95% to attract private equity in the European market, Carola Klessen, Vice President at Stories of Faith Ltd., Ireland, presented her companies quite different, and innovative 100% equity financed business model and stressed, given the right product and concept, not less but more risk investment was the way of the future.

The Berlin initiated, Dublin based project has already received considerable interest from institutional investors and high net worth individuals since being introduced in mid January, she explained, largely because of the project’s unique multi-platform concept and its simple and transparent finance structure. A thematically linked slate of five films for the stable under appreciated large-format (IMAX©) market, together with boxed DVD sets and educational books, will provide predictable revenues over long periods of exploitation guaranteeing investors break even plus, while a simultaneously produced motion picture for theatrical release gives the investors a considerable upside to warrant their engagement.

Klessen went on to explain that institutional investors particularly responded favorably to the project because of its clear positioning as well as the fact that, different from the abolished Blind Pool Equity Fonds of the past, the investors in Stories of Faith not only know exactly what they’re financing, they also have considerable control over the business affairs of the project. The build-in topical relevance of the project with its potential to spark public debate around the globe also distinguishes the project from any other currently in the market, she concluded, and provides another upside.
