US Tech competence meets German Mittelstand in virtual reality

- Deutsche Messe is one of the first trade fair companies in the world to launch a virtual reality platform for its exhibitors.
- CeBIT exhibitors can now duplicate their trade show offering in virtual reality.
- Deutsche Messe starts new exhibitor service at CeBIT powered by Hashplay

San Francisco/Hannover. Deutsche Messe is one of the first trade fair companies in the world to launch a virtual reality platform for its exhibitors. The Virtual Reality Lab ( http://virtual-reality-lab.de/ ) is now available for virtual reality company, product and service presentations. It also puts Deutsche Messe squarely on the map as a center of expertise for immersive technologies. The VR Lab is designed for exhibitors, service providers and companies from industry and commerce who wish to complement their physical displays of goods and services with VR versions that can be viewed at any time and from any location.

This novel service is a collaborative effort on the part of Deutsche Messe and San Francisco based Hashplay Inc. Hashplay’s cloud-based solution supports both 2D and VR visualization on all mobile and non-mobile devices. Virtual models and environments can be created by making efficient use of available data.

“We are delighted to have found the perfect strategic partner in Deutsche Messe, which stage such world-leading trade fairs as CeBIT and HANNOVER MESSE,” added Jan-Philipp Mohr, Hashplay’s co-founder, and CEO.

“Virtual reality has become a mainstream technology and is therefore also on the strategic agenda of many of our exhibitors focused on digitalization and innovation. There are a multitude of VR applications, many of which have the potential to significantly impact companies’ value chains. We at Deutsche Messe want to help our exhibitors to get the most out of this trailblazing technology,” said Dr. Wolfram von Fritsch, Chairman of Deutsche Messe’s Managing Board.

Virtual product and company presentations can provide a company’s customers and partners with a preview of what they can expect to see long before they visit the company’s actual tradeshow exhibit.

Virtual reality showcases can be used to give visitors a feel for the company’s full range of goods and services.

And after the show is over, companies can continue to use both their supporting VR showcases and a VR version of their exhibition stand for marketing purposes.

“Virtual and augmented reality technologies will be hot topics at CeBIT 2017, not least because they play a crucial role in the digital transformation of an industry widely known under the label ‘Industry 4.0′,” explained Michael Mollath, Deutsche Messe’s Chief Digital Officer.
