(openPR) - May 13, 2008 - The current programming on VernissageTV focuses on two events: The Gallery Weekend 2008 in Berlin and the Gallery Tour (Rundgang) in Leipzig

From 2nd to 4th May 2008 34 galleries invited art lovers and collectors to the openings of their new exhibitions in Berlin. Since 2004 the Gallery Weekend is one of the highlights of Berlin's art season. VernissageTV had a closer look at the following exhibitions by galleries who are officially participating in the Gallery Weekend 2008 event:

>> David Claerbout's film titled “The Algier’s section of a happy moment” at Johnen Galerie

>> Nobuyoshi Araki's exhibition "Kinbaku" with 100 black-and-white photographs of tied up women at Jablonka Gallery

>> New paintings by Jonathan Lasker and new sculptures by Bernhard Martin at Thomas Schulte Gallery

>> Frank Nitsche: Drops (paintings and sculptures) at Galerie Max Hetzler.

>> Tatiana Trouvé's installation "Density of Time" at Galerie Johann König.

>> Nathan Carter at Esther Schipper.

Happily the Gallery Weekend 2008 coincided with two other events: The inauguration of the "Halle am Wasser" near Berlin's main railway station, and the "Rundgang" (Gallery Tour) in Leipzig.

In Leipzig VernissageTV interviewed conceptual artist Brian Conley, who told us about his project "Decipherment of Linear X" at Pierogi Leipzig. We also covered Stella Hamberg's exhibition at Eigen + Art, the fair-like "Werkschau" with 15 international galleries presenting their program in hall 12 of the Spinnerei, and a show with works by students of the Academy of Arts Linz.

The "Halle am Wasser" is a project that provides a new home for six art spaces in a warehouse located directly behind the Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin's museum for contemporary art. We covered the openings of Martha Parsey's exhibition at Jarmuschek + Partner, and the group show "Frontlines" at BodhiBerlin. BodhiBerlin is the fifth branch of Bodhi Art. VernissageTV met with the artistic director of BodhiBerlin and former Head of Exhibitions, Film and New Media of the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (House of World Cultures) in Berlin, Shaheen Merali, who gave us an outlook to the program of BodhiBerlin.

The video episodes can be accessed via VernissageTV's website at www.vernissage.tv. These link directly lead to the Berlin and Leipzig coverage:
