Higgins has been named as President of the Association of Law Firm Diversity Professionals (ALFDP). The ALFDP was established in 2006, and Ms. Higgins will serve a term of two years.

In her role as the Firm's Chief Diversity Officer, Ms. Higgins designs, implements, and monitors initiatives that support the Firm's commitment to cultivate and maintain diversity and inclusion. In addition, she is a Partner in Thompson & Knight's Finance Practice Group representing clients in banking, structured finance, asset securitizations, and asset backed securities transactions as well as in mergers and acquisitions.
The ALFDP’s mission is to be a catalyst for the advancement of diversity and inclusion in the legal profession by drawing upon members’ expertise, vision, and advocacy for law firm diversity and inclusion. The organization is composed of senior level diversity professionals in major U.S. law firms whose positions place them at the forefront of increasing diversity and inclusion in the legal profession. Collectively, they seek to establish best practices and initiatives to assist the legal profession in achieving and sustaining true diversity and in recruiting, mentoring, sponsoring, promoting, and retaining attorneys of color, women, and all underrepresented groups.
