(openPR) - MANCHESTER (29 April 2008) – Leading adoption charity After Adoption is catching its breath after its Flora London Marathon team raised more than £5000 of funds to support the charity’s work across the UK.
Despite the rain, runners Bruce Magill and Phil Scott both completed the 26.2-mile run in good times, with an enthusiastic After Adoption team cheering on from the sidelines.
Runner Bruce Magill said: “I wanted to run for a charity that I could make a real difference to, and adoption is an issue that has been close to my heart for many years. After Adoption provides a wealth of advice and support, helping anyone who has been touched by adoption and finding families for children who would otherwise grow up in the care system.
“Running the London Marathon gave me an overwhelming sense of achievement and the crowds were amazing. I am now planning to run again next year and beat my debut time of three hours 57 minutes.”
After Adoption works to support adopted children and adults, adoptive families and birth relatives across the UK, finding permanent families for children who would otherwise grow up in the care system.
