Kugler-Womako to showcase ProBind, a cost-effective binding machine for start-ups, at drupa 2008

Press release from: Kugler-Womako GmbH

Hamburg/Nürtingen, April 15, 2008 – The German-based machinery manufacturer Kugler-Womako, a Körber PaperLink company, will present ProBind, a binding machine particularly developed for cost-effective binding, at drupa 2008.

Kugler-Womako’s ProBind addresses the needs of bookbinderies, trade finishers and small stationery manufacturers who are looking for a binding machine with manual feeding for small-to-medium-size production runs. In addition the machine is especially useful as a supplement to more automated converting lines to process smaller orders.

“The new ProBind achieves 30 binding cycles per minute and is therefore especially suited for manual feeding”, says Stephan Bühler, Product Manager, Kugler-Womako. “Thus the efficient operation of the machine can be learned in a short time, also by less experienced machine operators.”

The ProBind concentrates on the main production steps – separating, punching, collecting, spine forming and binding. The standard spine forming prevents limits of performance, also for thicker products. The ProBind is available for the production of spiral and plastic spiral binding or wire comb binding. Optionally the machine equipment can be complemented by cover feeders and a spine trimmer. A corner-rounding unit is available as well. The ProBind can be combined with the Kugler-Womako double wire forming machine HK 571.

The first ProBind has already been sold to a stationery manufacturer in India.

Visitors to drupa 2008 will see how the ProBind works under actual production conditions at the Körber PaperLink stand (Hall 11, Stand B62/C62) during the entire duration of the fair.
