(openPR) - Release 8 and new “Enterprise Edition” introduce enterprise-level functionality for Onepoint Project

Graz, Apr 09, 2008 – Onepoint Software, one of the leading European vendors for project and portfolio management software (PPM), today introduced Release 8 of its project leadership solution “Onepoint Project”. The new release adds key features that are mission-critical for large, project-oriented companies such as customizable project and resource types, configurable e-mail alerts and improved document management functionality. Onepoint also announced two new, optional modules around skills management and status reporting that can be licensed together with the new “Enterprise Edition”. Release 8 and the add-on modules are available immediately.

Onepoint Project is available as both open source and commercial software. The “Open Edition” has already been downloaded more than 50,000 times from the leading open source platform Sourceforge.net and recently got an honorary award from the INNOVATIONSPREIS 2008 as one of the best open source business software packages in Central Europe. Onepoint Project integrates web-based project planning, progress tracking, monitoring, controlling and reporting into a single, easy-to-use tool. The software is best known for its short learning curve and the fact that it is very easy to deploy.

Enterprise Flexibility in Onepoint Project Release 8
Newly introduced core functionalities in release 8 include the ability to create custom types of portfolios, projects, resources and pools allowing for much faster customization than previously possible. Eight different, configurable e-mail alerts help managers of project-oriented organizations to keep their eyes on narrow margins and important deadlines. Integrated document management capabilities and a new checklist tool provide a 360-degree view of the project portfolio.

Skills Management and Status Reporting Added
The two new optional modules expand the core project and portfolio management functions in the areas of skills management and status reporting: The “Skills Management Option” enables users to create a custom, organization-wide skills catalog helping to rate and search for resources based on their qualifications and experiences as well as their availability. The “Controlling-Cycle Option” introduces explicit support for a mandatory project controlling-cycle in order to facilitate the regular project review and clearing process. For instance, consulting companies can use the Controlling-Cycle Option to optimize their internal pre-billing process by gaining faster access to the billable hours per project and accounting period. Both options primarily focus on larger, project-oriented departments and organizations.
