(openPR) - Nina Bliese Gallery is supporting this call to action by exhibiting the photography of David L. Parker from Monday, March 31 to May 2 , 2008 . As Senator (Iowa) Tom Harkin states in the forward of the book of the same title, "Child labor has existed through the ages and compassionate people have, no doubt, always worked to assist those caught in its throes." Parker, a Twin Cities physician and advocate on behalf of human rights of children, will have his photographs featured in the gallery along with the accompanying publication . He states, " I had no idea how many children worked, what their working conditions were like, or how difficult it would be to document the issue." Around the world, estimates of 320 million working children still make the efforts of the international organizations and individuals like Dr. Parker very important. This is an opportunity for all of us to be reminded of an issue that does not often touch us directly and learn from Dr. Parker how one can help the reduce the numbers worldwide. Proceeds from the sales of the publication will be donated by the gallery to The Advocates for Human Rights ( formerly Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights) located in Minneapolis.
David L. Parker will be speaking about his work on Thursday evening, April 10th at 6:30 PM in the Nina Bliese Gallery located on the ground floor of the 225 South 6th Street building in Minneapolis. The gallery also features the wood turned art of Steve Sinner who will also be speaking.
