euNetworks deploys host|nex for S+M Schaltgeräte

Press release from: euNetworks
(openPR) - INTEGRATED COMMUNICATIONS SOLUTION TO SUPPORT YOUTH PROTECTION IN SALES OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS

Frankfurt/Germany, 08 April 2008 – euNetworks, (SGX: H23.SI), Europe’s foremost provider of mission-critical, extreme performance and capacity data services to large corporates, carriers and services providers, today announced it concluded an agreement with S+M Schaltgeräte Service und Vertriebs GmbH (S+M Schaltgeräte), one of the leading providers of Hard- and Software Solutions in Germany. Under the terms of the agreement, euNetworks provisioned host¦nex, a managed hosting environment connected globally through a highly scalable global IP backbone.

S+M Schaltgeräte required a highly reliable and secure platform to support the rollout of an age verification program via mobile phones for the sales of tobacco products at cigarette vending machines. The requirement was driven by the revision of a statute by the German commission of youth and media protection (KJM) in November 2006, which demanded better protection of minors in tobacco sales.

euNetworks developed a highly available platform comprising premium co-location and global IP connectivity ensuring extremely fast, efficient and highly reliable Internet access. euNetworks, through its global peering agreements, was uniquely positioned to deliver the highest quality IP Transit connectivity with minimum hop, minimum latency and minimum packet loss all under the highest industry service level agreements. The solution is to be deployed and managed from euNetworks’ best in class datacenter facility in Frankfurt and includes a range of managed services.

Thorsten Stuke, Project Manager at S+M Schaltgeräte, said: “Our customers in the tobacco industry required a highly reliable and secure solution to meet the high data protection standards in Germany. euNetworks as provider of mission critical communications infrastructure was uniquely positioned to deliver on these demands. More than 800 cigarette vending machines are online to date – we are extremely satisfied with the solution euNetworks designed.”

Noel Meaney, Chief Executive Officer, euNetworks, said: “Having evaluated the exacting demands for a mission critical solution that S+M Schaltgeräte required, euNetworks delivered an extremely reliable and secure solution, leveraging off our immense network capacity and high power density datacenters.”
