The First Badminton School in England

On Friday 27th January 2017 The Webber Independent School of Soskin Drive, Milton Keynes will host an open day for its School of Badminton.

This is a chance for interested parents and students to understand how education and Badminton can work together to benefit the players and their families. The programme is designed to provide access to top quality coaching, from current and ex-international players, while combining it with education – all from one location.

Sara Sankey, ex England International comments:

“This programme is totally unique and a first of its kind in England. Our first year has been a great success and our current players are leading the way in the under 13 and under 11 national championships.

Not only do our players benefit from world-class coaching and high quality education, they also gain a better life balance and enjoy some much-valued downtime. Athletes and their families are dedicated to their training regimes, which involve early starts and late evenings while training and schooling at different locations. The chance for players to train and attend a school at one location is very rare and not widely available.”

The open day is on Friday 27th January between 2-4pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet Sara Sankey, Head Coach and Hilary Marsden, Headmistress of The Webber Independent School. After a brief presentation there will be a short tour of the school facilities followed by a chance to ask any questions.

The second year of the programme starts in September 2017 and places are limited, early application highly recommended.

-Ends-
