(openPR) - Los Angeles Foster Care Children’s Charity Benefits from Fullerton Baseball Game
(PASADENA, CA)— To bring awareness of Child Abuse Prevention Month, students from California State University, Fullerton are hosting a baseball game on Saturday, April 12, at 6:00 p.m. Benefiting Hillsides, a 95-year-old foster care children’s charity serving kids and families in Los Angeles County, the proceeds will fulfill special wishes for children affected by abuse and neglect.
Studies have shown that children who are exposed to domestic violence have increased aggressive behavior, educational problems, lower levels of social competence, and increased emotional problems such as depression and anxiety. Often times, children who live at Hillsides have been victims of domestic abuse and neglect, or may suffer from severe emotional disturbances.
“The reason we chose Hillsides was because we are all going to be parents at one point and leaders in our own community. Naturally, we felt we had an emotional connection to the children’s charity,” said CSUF student intern Robyn Konovalov, 22, who will be graduating in May.
“Cal State Fullerton students wear their hearts on their sleeves,” said Laura Kelso, Hillsides director of community resources. “Five student interns from Fullerton have been planning this event and we are delighted to have been chosen.”
Baseball fans who attend are encouraged to wear purple in support of this event that raises awareness of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Purple ribbons will also be sold for $1 to bring awareness of domestic violence that affects children. Other donations to the foster care children’s charity can be made at www.Hillsides.org.
