Barbara Rose Haum A great artist passed away

After a long battle with illness Barbara Rose Haum passed away peacefully on March 25, 2008. Barbara was born in 1962 in Frankfurt, Germany. She had been living in New York City since the 1980s, a city she loved dearly, and knew as well as any native New Yorker. She will be dearly missed by husband Henri and daughter Talia. She also leaves behind mother Marianna, father Herbert, sister Annette as well as many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Barbara completed her under graduate work at the School for Visual Arts and received a doctorate in Studio Art from New York University. She was an assistant Professor of Culture and Communications at New York University. A respected artist, teacher, researcher and valued colleague. Over the span of her artistic career in New York the emphasis of her work gradually shifted from photography to creating multimedia installations to digital imagery and internet based performances, particularly her pioneering work in internet2 based theater performances. Barbara was the recipient of many prestigious awards and honors. Amongst many other venues, her works have been exhibited nationally and internationally at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC, The Bronx Museum of the Arts, The Jewish Museum in Frankfurt, Germany, The Museum of Contemporary Art in Paris, France, The Photography Forum in Frankfurt, Germany. Barbara was a wonderful and loyal friend to all who knew her. Her wisdom, insight, wit and humor touched everyone she met. Barbara will be remembered as the gentle bearer of a moving and original soul. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 27 at 1:30pm at The Plaza Jewish Memorial Funeral Home at the corner of 91st and Amsterdam in Manhattan.
