asknet publishes figures for the 2007 business year
Press release from: asknet AG
(openPR) - Sales revenue of EUR 64.9 million (+55%)
- Service revenue up 42% to EUR 8.8 million
- Operating results (EBIT) improved but still negative
Karlsruhe, 31 March 2008 – asknet AG, one of the leading providers of outsourcing solutions for global software distribution via the Internet (Electronic Software Distribution – ESD), has published its figures for the 2007 business year.
The asknet Group generated EUR 64.9 million in sales revenue in the 2007 business year, which represents an increase of approx. 55% compared to the same period of the previous year. The Group’s service revenue increased by 42% to EUR 8.8 million, from EUR 6.2 million in 2006. The service revenue margin for the Group was 14%. The asknet Group thus continued its successful growth course in 2007 and achieved its scaling objectives. The marked increase in both sales and service revenues results from the positive development of business with major existing US and European customers, as well as to the widening of the customer base in the eDistribution network segment. Operating results (EBIT) stood at EUR –3.0 million compared to EUR –4.0 million for the same period of the previous year. After interest and tax, the company showed a net loss of EUR 2.7 million for the year at the Group level, which represents a significant reduction of the the previous year’s loss of EUR 5.8 million.
In the 2007 business year, asknet processed a total of approx. 1,270,000 online transactions, a plus of 565,000 or 80%. The major part of this increase was generated by the eDistribution network segment, where asknet designs and operates online shops mostly for software manufacturers. In terms of sales achieved, Germany continues to be the most important market, although the growing share of sales generated with end customers abroad in 2007 reflects the increasingly international orientation of the Group. Doubling sales in the North American market from EUR 7.9 million to EUR 16.2 million once again significantly increased the proportion of sales achieved in the US market from 19% to 25%. This development results from the Group’s vigorous drive for internationalisation over the past few years, in particular from enhancing its presence in the US office in San Francisco and the related marked increase in sales activities in the North American market.
All in all, the asknet Group sees itself in an excellent position in the highly attractive market for electronic software distribution, primarily because of its flexible technology platform and its worldwide presence. For 2008, the management also expects sales revenue to grow by at least 40%, as well as a marked increase in the service revenue. Results are expected to again significantly improve compared to the previous year.
The consolidated financial statements as well as the annual financial statements of asknet AG are available as of today from the company’s website on www.asknet.com. The publication of the annual report for 2007 is scheduled for late April 2008.
