Speed:World:Cup kicks off in Port St. Louis du Rhone

Press release from: Speed:World:Cup
Kitespeed World Cup Port St. Louis
Kitespeed World Cup Port St. Louis
(openPR) - For the crème de la crème of speed kiteboarding, the battle is on for the world championship titles and new records. The Kite Speed World Cup will again be held in Port St. Louis du Rhone this year, for the 3rd year running.
The event starts on the 29th of March, running til 06th of April.

When the Mediterranean sea beckons with its crystal clear and turquoise waters and guaranteed wind, the world's speed kitesurfing elite cannot resist. This is why the list of competitors reads much like a „Who’s Who“ of speed kiting in the world. These wind riders can bank on ideal conditions at Plage Napoleon, where the competition is held. As can spectators and the media. For them, Port St. Louis is also the perfect venue, since the wind blows from just the right direction to allow contests to be held very close to the beach.

In the men’s fleet, all eyes are set to the reigning world champion and 500m world record holder Alex Caizergues, a true son of the city of Port St. Louis, who clearly dominated last years season.

His biggest opponents at the moment seem to be Manu Taub, also from France, currently second fastest kiteboarder in the world, Sebastien Cattelan, former world record holder, and 2006 world champion Christophe Prin-Guenon, always good for some first places at their home world cup.

This event will also attract a number of international competitors like Taro Niehaus from South Africa, David Williams from England, and Rolf van der Vlugt from Holland.

The womens fleet is well represented with reigning world champion Charlotte Consorti from France and outright speedsailing world record holder Sjoukje Bredenkamp from South Africa.

The Speed:World:Cup is sanctioned by ISWC (International Speed Windsurfing Class) on behalf of ISAF (International Sailing Federation) and the PKRA (Professional Kite Riders Association). The organization will be done by the Port St. Louis Centre Nautique in cooperation with the Speed:World:Cup Management.

During and after the competition, we will have available for all national and international media, press releases, video packages with broadcasting quality images and high resolution pictures.

Speed:World:Cup is the officially sanctioned world tour of the International Speed Windsurfing Class (ISWC) and the Professional Kite Riders Association (PKRA).

The Speed:World:Cup events go from exceptional action in Namibia to more cosmopolitan spots such as Fuerteventura - the historical European Speedsurfing Capital, to huge shows of extreme conditions on small islands like Karpathos. In total, there are 200 to 300 competitors at the same time, from places like Australia or Brasil, to Germany or Norway.

The Tour has to offer: dynamic, thrilling action, and bring the most visually dynamic aquatic sports to the audience, making it a perfect vehicle to locate sponsors logos; a sport that is set outdoors, healthy and environmental friendly.

Superb action on the water, combined with an interactive and exciting life experience, that creates an atmosphere where the fans and the media are face to face with the most radical and intense competition and the biggest personalities of the sport.
Besides being a sport of radical action, Windsurfing and Kiteboarding is a way of life. This type of life is formed by several elements to which many aspire, but that few can really achieve. Most of, if not even all of these aspects of the sport are represented in the Speed:World:Cup.

The Speed:World:Cup is entitled to hold World, Continental and National Championships and is always looking for partners, local organizers as well as national associations, to propagate this exciting and thrilling discipline all over the world.
