Migrations Exhibition By The International Artists Collective Shows How Seattle Artists Are Saying Global Is Local

Press release from: International Artists Collective

Topics related to immigration and emigration are politicized today, but as the Armenian artist Karen Alekyan says, "Migration is permanent." Migration is part of the human condition. Life is not static. Migration and exile is a constant force creating shifting landscapes of identity, inclusion and exclusion. Society views the migrant as stranger in its midst: a stranger that is either assimilated or feared. Who is the stranger? What is the stranger searching for or fleeing? Don Quixote shifts the perspective from settlement to explorer, whether exiled or migrating through the boundaries of historical situations or our rapidly changing global context. Art created for this project is on exhibition at the Artspace Mt. Baker Art Lofts Galleria in February 2017. Opening night 6pm-9pm live streamed by Hollow Earth Radio.
