(openPR) - A YouTube video analyst by the name of Brad Johnson from Victoria, BC, Canada has announced officially that a Cloverfield video game is now officially in the works by Paramount Pictures. Brad Johnson mentions that the law firm that represent Paramount Pictures Corporation contacted him personally in regards to using his domain (www.cloverfieldgame.com) for their official Cloverfield video game project.
On March 14th, 2008, Brad Johnson received an email notification from the law firm that represents Paramount Pictures Corporation. This email stated that Paramount Pictures was interested in talking to the owner(s) of the cloverfieldgame.com website and showed no signs of a cease and desist notice.
“A team of Cloverfield movie fans along with myself were in the middle of creating a fan developed Cloverfield game,” Brad Johnson states, “In the morning, I checked my email and I found a message from a gentleman who represents the law firm that handles all legality issues for Paramount Pictures. When I spoke to him, it was a very positive conversation and he assured me that Paramount Pictures was not at all on the offensive in regards to having their fans make a free fan-made video game based on the Cloverfield movie. The whole purpose of the email was regarding the domain name itself. The gentleman informed me that Paramount Pictures is officially making a Cloverfield video game and they would like to use my domain name for it.”
After receiving the email, Brad Johnson mentions that he decided to scrap the idea for the fan-made Cloverfield game that was being developed by his game development team consisting of Cloverfield fans and decided to go down a different route.
“I just thought that there’d really be no point in us making a Cloverfield fan game now as an official is now going to be made. And there’s really no way we can compete with the official guys that created the whole Cloverfield phenomenon. So now that Paramount is making a game for Cloverfield, our plans have changed and we are currently creating a free video game inspired by Cloverfield that features a brand new monster never before seen. This game is going to be called “Grayshot” and it will be made available to everyone online on November 30th, 2008.”
