SA-Gateway & Xtera Helps SAB&T Ubuntu Increase VPN Capacity with Network Upgrade

Media & Telecommunications
Press release from: Xtera Communications
(openPR) - Xtera's product AscenLink trunks multiple WAN links for VPN connections and provides VPN load balancing

Taipei, March 13, 2008 - SA-Gateway & Xtera's IP Networking Division, WAN management solutions provider, helped SAB&T Ubuntu perform a major network upgrade to increase VPN capacity and provide network redundancy.

SAB&T Ubuntu is an AltX listed multi-disciplinary professional firm that offers services in accounting, business consultancy, taxation, and recruitment. It is based in South Africa and has begun establishing global presence and expanding service regions. Networking is important for data exchange between offices, so SAB&T Ubuntu were required to increase VPN capacity for the company network and connect branch offices with the headquarters.

SAB&T Ubuntu decided AscenLink would be the answer to the company's networking issues. AscenLink is a WAN management device with added features for VPN optimization; its Tunnel Routing technology accomplishes link aggregation and load balancing for VPN to eliminate single point of failure and increase VPN capacity. Also, because Tunnel Routing supports dynamic IP, SAB&T Ubuntu was able to reduce the cost of multiple fixed IP addresses and private lines by using a single fixed IP address at headquarters and connecting other offices to the headquarters by ADSL.

SAB&T Ubuntu deployed an AscenLink unit at each office, connected 4 main offices with a full mesh network, and then connected 5 smaller branch offices to the mesh network. The mesh network provides redundant links between the 4 main offices to ensure 24/7 connectivity for business critical data exchange between the offices.

SA-Gateway, local ISP and Ascenlink partner, says that the product helps to do away with expensive Diginet links between branches. List of features include:

1. Aggregate multiple leased and broadband lines
2. Provide inbound and outbound traffic load balancing and fault tolerance
3. Guarantee 24/7 web presence with a cost-effective multi-homing solution
4. Optimize bandwidth utilization with build-in bandwidth management and QoS capabilities
5. Block DoS attacks and support DMZ with a built-in firewall
6. Reduce overall network cost through multiple WAN integration
7. Achieve VPN bandwidth aggregation and deliver load balanced and fault tolerant VPN connections

Herman van der Merwe, SAB&T Ubuntu's Technical Director, said: “AscenLink helped us get more for less; we improved our network infrastructure and capacity significantly while saving money at the same time. We are pleased with our choice, and we would recommend AscenLink to others.”
Jacy Chang, sales manager for Xtera’s IP division said: “Xtera with the support of our South African Partner SA-Gateway, have successfully installed AscenLink for SAB&T Ubuntu. AscenLink’s exclusive load balancing technology includes dynamic IP support (DHCP), tunnel-routing, multi-homing, and central routing amongst others. This is the key for successfully building cost effective and high quality network infrastructure for our clients.”
